Edit 15 May 2013:
Ok guys, I've had a lot of people ask me who is going to author this article. After some consideration, I've decided that it can be any of you who wish to do it.
Here's how it will work. At the bottom of this post, I'm going to post a template. Simply take this template, code and all (it would be best to quote this post and then remove everything that I've typed and the [qu-ote] tags. Then, just fill in the stuff for the species profile.
Here's the template:
Genus species
Author/Co-Authors- lix.ma14, Payarakeeper(you won't add this, I will add this when the actual guide is posted!)
Editor- Chicxulub (you won't add this, I will add this when the actual guide is posted!)
General Info
An interesting, encyclopedic blurb about the species, to include their availability in the hobby, temperament and interesting facts
Distribution
Example: South America: Magdalena River basin and Santiago River basin in Ecuador.

LEAVE THIS BLANK
Well, at the demand of the community, here we go!
Its now time to tackle this subject and get some definitive answers out into the hobby. As it stands, it appears that there are sixteen species plus two unnamed variants in Erythrinidae for a total of eighteen (!) types of fish that we have to profile. This is significantly more than is found in ATF or Dorados and I would greatly appreciate some help ferreting out data to examine on this one.
For this thread, I have no intention of half assing it. We need to get at least all sixteen species profiled and documented or its not worth doing. I'm well aware that many of the species aren't in the hobby but thats fine. They will still be covered in the literature and should at least have some diagnostic drawings from the author of the papers that described them and/or photographs of the holotypes/paratypes.
What I need from you:
- Scientific papers related to wolf fish
- An author of a General Care section, akin to the one for dorados or the one for ATF
- Pictures, pictures, pictures!
Jelly, I intend to use your site as a credited reference for material that will go into this sticky. Do you have an objection to that?
Ok guys, lets get this done!
