Wolf Fish Wont Eat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok Update on The wolves.... Red wolf is eating. couple feeders are missing and found out it eats pellets this morning. Ken's krill pellets seem to be its favorite pellet for now. havent used hikari's yet but its ok i'll stick with kens since its cheaper anyways. But now my Mal still isnt eating... its going to be a week tomorow. 6 days, not eating. Feeders are still in the tank swimming. Its currently in a 120 gallon tank. Now im worried.

I kept a Red Wolf and Mala for 5 years in separate tanks. The Red would swim all the time, I only saw the mala swim a handful of times in the 5 years. Great fish, just not very entertaining to watch.

Ive never kept reds but i had a mala. I for advise hand feeding also. It helps alot with lower aggression. I also could pet my mala without hesitation and it would just sit there. Try earthworms, trout worms, chopped up tilapia fillets and market shrimp. All these my mala loved

+1 also I wouldn't worry too much about the mala I wouldn't hesitate to starve mine for a few weeks at a time if I wasn't worried about tankmates

it currently has 2 goldfish for tankmates... in a 120.... been 6 days no food... red wolf is eating pellets. i think i fed it too much. its just chillin right now. but im just a bit worried about the mal.. how often should i feed it? its about 7-8 inches?

Ull be ok for a while to you really gotta worry. I once left for two weeks and my mala was ok. My mother in law was scared so she didn't want to feed him. Also try feeding at night right after the lights go out. Wolffish are more active at night so more likely to eat then thats how i did it with my mala once he was comfortable i started hand feeding

Mine would go through phases that he would not eat for a couple weeks at a time, other times I couldn't feed him enough. It made no sense to me.

alright... i guess i'll update again in a week.... if its still alive and not starved to death or if any symptoms of illness occur. Again water is crystal clean. and i even did another dose ofprazi pro just to be safe.
