WOLF FISH!

I have a 9-10" wolffish in a 55gal. i feed him 1" feederfish i know this isnt good. i usually have convicts from my breeders. so they dont get to many feeders. but how do i ween him off of these junk fish?!?! i tried to loosely tie a cichlid pellet on a string and bob it up and down. but once he struck it and realized it wasnt alive he spit it back out! how do i get this fish to except other food!?!?! prefferably cheap and easy to obtain at a local pet store.

Actually, i think Woflies are one of those fish that does best with live food.

Feeder golfish arent a good live food. For sure. You're right about that.

But live fish isnt bad to give them. I would get a 20-30 gallon and 2 convicts and let them rip.
Then feed all their babies to him. :naughty:
 
Get yourself a few guppys and let them breed. They are much better feeders then goldfish. If you can't get guppys or can't get them to breed or whatever, you can usually find rosies at your lfs. Rosies are good too. but if you don't want to feed him live food (which you really should) you can always starve him. he will eat if he's hungry enough.
 
to get the fish off live
starve for a few days
add a dead goldfish, see if he eats it
if he does, your made a big first step
then try frozen squid, shrimp, ect
.
.
.if he doesnt,
starve some more and try agian

Try raw shrimp,Smelt or Catfish chunks.My Wolf loves all of these!!!But 1st try starving him a few days.:naughty:
 
I have had a wolf for over 10 years,and haven't fed him anything but feeders.Seems to be doing just fine.Also,I feed him 3 dozen fish every 2 weeks.All go in the tank at the same time.All are gone within 2 days.He is as healthy as can be.Never a problem.
