What do i need to keep one, what can i keep it with, how cool is it to wach them eat feeders, what prepaired foods will they eat, and depending on the size, how much do they usually cost? Hunting pics greatly appreciated

I haven't gotten mine to eat anything but feeders yet. It'll eat a goldfish about half it's size, which is sweet.

They usually cost 20-30 as far as I know. I wouldn't keep anything smaller than them in the tank with them as they grow very fast and are very predatory.

hey man, i am either getting a wolf or a payara (or break down and get get an e-cat, but i want to try something new). i can see you have one. what are the diffs. all i care about tankmates is my parrot, but he's a fat 6-7 incher.

Also I have a 45 that just has a bunch of baby cons (they just started territory battles and breeding) its really cool. I love it when there are to pairs fighting side by side- male vs male, female vs female. But they are just as easily feeders

To the guy who says they grow fast.... That true? I haven't kept one long enough to see a growth change, but I have kept them, and I can tell you that they like nothing more than taking a big chunk out of a fish's belly, no matter what size it is ,so I would worry about your parrot. That's what mine liked to do anyways...
As for an E cat - I tried them, was bored with them after a week.

like i said, i got a 45 to play with. e-ccats, love em. mine did tricks. i self trained the big boy to swim threw rings i made with my fingers for food. i could set my palm flat on the bottom. he would get on, let me take hime to the surface, and i could pet his head. didn't get shocked. i guess i spioled him. 5 tubifex cubes a day:(

Howdy,

Instead of bumping, you could just scroll down a few threads...:banhim: ;) Read HERE
BTW: Mine eats shrimp, I feed him using tongs. Growth rate of juveniles: approx 1''/month.

Yes do a search. To be honest it's not 'cool' to watch any fish eat feeders. You're running the risk of introducing both disease and parasites to your tank. Plus in nature any fish a wolf eats will have a gut loaded with beneficial nutrients. This is not true when feeding live fish in an aquarium. Imo, of course.

ok. Given the tank range of 45-55, what would work better; payara or wolf (they will both be small)

put in Erythrinus Erythrinus ( rainbow wolf ) or a Hoplerythrinus Unitaeniatus ( gold wolf ).. imo in that size tank you should only keep one ( possibly witha pleco )..

allthough rainbows are prettier, golds are more forward coming and, at the end of the day, all in all, better wolves, imo
