Wolves and cichlids?

it's never a good idea to keep smaller fish with wolffish. tankmates need to be approx the same size if not bigger.

It was just to see how the wolf would do with other fish. I really didn't want to buy a 8-10" $60+ fish to have it beat to death. But from now on the wolf will be alone.

Excuse the wound on the wolfs nose, hes called bloody face for a reason haha. The pic has both the wolf fish and balzani geo in it, they swim together and everything. Hes only fin nipped the geo once, and he healed up great and hasnt had an issue since. If its too wide, i dont think the wolf will go for it. Mine mauled a heckelli recently but it was an inch smaller then that geo. Your lucky you pulled out that JD, check what happened to my heckelli (2nd pic). JD may not have been a good choice as their stockier and narrow, but wide fish i feel arent a very appealing target for them.

I feel a big Dat might work well with a big mala, for sure provide dithers though, maybe a school of silver $$ or some sort of barb he can munch on if he gets in that mood

The wolf has actually cooled out. I had to put the jd back cause a leak in the qt tank it was in. I forgot the seals were bad on the 15 but they have been doing well together and both respect each others space.they actually ate trout worms together. So I'm going to just watch him for now the 15 should be cured by morning but not sure if it's needed ATM

not sure if its wise keeping anything with a wolf. I used to think that they won't attack anything bigger till my 6 " mala attacked two 4" angelfish (excluding fins) seems to me they will attack anything once in the mood. My friend's 12" curupira will ignore 2" tin foil barbs most of the time, until he got hungry.

They been fine for the past four days and are getting along great. They have been eating together for the past few days.
