Oh never get mad.... If she shows any interest nuture it. If she messes something up its okay. Figure out what she was willing to mess with and slowly start introducing it to her more and more. Then you have a skilled partner in crime rather than someone who is afraid to touch your tanks and resentful that she tried to do something nice and just got yelled at. Take that advice from a fish keeping couple....

Oh, and I should mention something. My husband is really into the discus and beautiful plecos. I'm much more into the monsters. We both enjoy it all, but we have our specialties and favorites.
I agree with Jen. Jen, what's your hubby's username here again? I forgot but I do remember he is also a member here.

LOL. Thanks for helping me make my point. He's SoCalDiscus.

Now I remember! LOL! I think he's the same one who had a gold nugget pleco with discus, right? Gold nugget pleco...That rang a bell or something.

Yeah. We had some gold nugget plecos in there, but, I suspect you're thinking of our old 13" goldie pleco, Frankie. Over like 6 months he slowly faded no matter what I did. I honestly think we may have lost him due to old age. We actually just finished setting up his discus tank again this weekend and we have a green phantom pleco in there with more plecos to be added soon.

Sat down and read this whole thread in one sitting...

...and while space, money, and lost attention are all factors in the question of why so many women dislike fish-keeping... I'm thinking that one large factor has not really been discussed.

Fish, especially the type of fish that most of us keep, are feral. Fish are the axe-murderers of the pet industry.

Beat and kill their mates while breeding? Check.

Claim the entire house as there own, and kill everyone else in it? Check.

Eat the children? Check.

Fish are NOT cuddly. They do not like you. They do NOT want you to pet them. They do NOT want to jump in your lap. Heck, unless you feed them, they pretty much either ignore you, or attack you.

...and most wimmin just can't get attached to an axe-murderer.
