wood not straight

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Screws and glue will straighten out all those little warping issues.

What happened? I thought the wood was "dead straight"?

Just kidding...we all knew that it wasn't...:)

Damn carpet fitters. Can't even fit a carpet without it undulating all over the place, making a mockery of ones meticulous measuring and cutting.

That's how I reassure myself anyway when my builds go tits up.

Dont be afraid of warped lumber! Use this combo to make those boards straight again:

The lag bolts are pricier than deck screws, but so is new lumber, and they are much stronger and more resilient. They say no predrilled needed, but I tap them with an 3/16" bit before drilling, and you can drill a countersink if you want a really neat look and more penetration. With the impact wrench they will suck any two pieces of wood flush together as long as they're not rotted.

Due to the price I usually don't use these for the entirety of my stands, but will use them in key places to keep everything square and true.
