any body ever tried to use 2x12 material for their tank i have a bunch laying around and thought that if i glued it together to make the larger peices using exterior wood glue and dowels or maybe biscuts this would make a really atractive tank that could be sanded and stained to match the wood work in my house :drool:
 
I have used 2x12s for above ground ponds but I prefer 2x10 because the 2x12s tend to bow. I use carraige bolts and 4x4 corner posts a well as 2x4 strapping every 3-4". You will want to use a liner.
 
it can be done... I would make sure you have LOTS of vertical support in the back/sides to ensure that bowing doesn't occur. Waterproofing 2X12s may also be a bit tricky... I've done plywood before, but 2x12 will be interesting. Keep us informed if you go though with this project... I'd be interesed to see how it turns out.
