In my experience most of the driftwood sold in lfs, at least arounf here is Malaysian driftwood. But the wood sold in lfs usually sync too.

I'm going to jury rig something to keep it down...it fits perfectly into the tank with the existing wood; will brainstorm tonight, see if I can dig out some slate lol

Need some opinion guys, I've managed to dig out some malleable lead, and some screws; which I could potentially use to weigh down the wood (pics below). However, will the lead poison the fish? I've seen plant weights made out of lead, but I just wondered. The screws rusting also concerns me.

Just trying to work out if this is a reasonable avenue...

screws going to rust unless stainless. dowt hurt the fish, dowt lead be an issue either.

I don't know for sure about the lead, but some ideas here...many places selling any form of slate and rock that have many small pieces that I'd bet would let go for free or very inexpensive - removes any doubt from the equation if you have any. Or, depending if you have certain amount of rock Su substrate you could you acrylic platform. You could attach with some pieces of acrylic rod to attach together or superglue. Glue will hold it and not harm fish. This will make it appear the wood is just syncing at the bottom. It's more effort but depends on what your willing to do to get the end result your looking for

My idea was to just screw right through and into the wood, then bury it in the sand; but I'm reading some conflicting views on the impact lead can have. Could be back to the drawing board lol, will keep you updated though!

aquarium silicone other wise known as 100% silicone is not an acrylic. I use acrylic glue at work. weld-on #4 this will not do anything or glue anything unless its acrylic to acrylic. any 100% silicone is what you are after. any 100% silicone.
