wooo hooo super stoked

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are gar. Sorry about the confusion where I am from we call them gar pike and I often shorten to just gar or just pike. I have not taken the time yet to verify exactly which type as it is hard with their current size but they are more than likely long nose gar but may be spotted gar I will prolly narrow it down once they reach 6 inches or so.

Did you say the Gars are only 1 inch????? Wow, that's really really small!!!

As mentioned above.. Thread useless without images :D

I am super stoked as well. Got a pair of 4 inch Gars!

Good Luck,
Sid

Heres some pics guys. Sorry I am no photographer but I will try to get better pics in a week or two after they are moved to the 75 and under better lights.

The first and last pictures give an idea of current size of my little guys. The heater in the first pic is one of the cheap 4 or 5 inch ten gallon tank heaters you buy at wallmart. The black X in the last pic is the heater power cord and a standard air tube. I believe I have 7 or 8 strong healthy gar left that are eating well. Its hard to get a real accurate count as there always seems to be someone hiding.

i can't see clear from the pics, but it looks like they got forked tailfins.
That would mean they're Pike Characins aka False gar or Hujeta Pike.
But then again i can't see very clearly.
Do they have forked tails?

I was thinking the exact thing. Didn't want to piss of the OP if it wasn't. But now there's another who agrees. Anyone else?
