working at goodwill today, petco fri, any advice?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't believe that LBF is the kinda dude I'd want thinking for himself about what to do next, especially if he's been given a job to do and hasn't finished it....

...and I hope whoever's in charge of him doesn't say, "Here's 8 hours of work...go do it...I'll be back at the end of the day." I have a feeling they'd be sorry...

I think we're starting in 3hr intervals to see if it's gonna work

i think you completely missed the point. And i didn't mean if he hasn't finished his current job to find something else to do. Thinking for yourself is the difference between sombody that works the same job for 20 years and sombody that gets promoted

Already missed work? Your first day at that, not looking good...they think you're unreliable and no one wants an unreliable employee.

reason why i missed work today ( for goodwill which is now scelduraled for next tuesday from 10 to 12 ) is cause i wouldnt have a ride back home, from 3 pm my transportation has kids to pick up from school and drop off. ( im riding with tendercare ) so this comming friday ill be at petco from 8-10 then next tuesday goodwill from 10-12 then i have one more job to go to which we have to call and see where available. ( hoping a petstore but if not thats fine ) and thanks all for all the advise!

my advice for petco is to the opposite of what you did today which means actually go and not sit on mfk all day

Well that sucks man. Try to plan ahead this time and make sure your rides are taken care of. you've gotta get there even if it means walking home, taking the bus, taking a cab etc. this has to be your number one priority no matter what.

How far away is this place? Couldn't you bicycle in an "emergency"? Next time you don't have a ride home, get your butt in there anyway and do the job. It doesn't matter if you're stuck there after for awhile or have to walk a few hours to get home. Among the top priorities for being a good employee (arguably the number one) is physically being there for your scheduled time and being willing to work over when necessary. If they had seen you sit outside for an hour waiting for your ride, their little hearts would have gone pitter-patter at your dedication. Instead you just let them down.

Wish you well. Keep it up, you can do it! Just try for more wins than fails and you'll be alright.
