Working for Petco.......

Not to beat a dead horse...but....

You did the right thing. Good job. The people who know wtf they're talking about have sided with you, and you should be proud about sticking to your morals.

Right or wrong pet stores dont exist because of the animals, they are seen as a product. They have to be sold and have to make the company a profit in order for them to stay in business.

You DID cost the company 2 sales. You could have tactfully approached the customer and possibly even sent them home with a bigger tank.

Sales isnt always about long term happiness. Haha Ive sold cars before (new) knowing its not a reliable product, but bottom line the company needs money, I need money.

If you dont like it dont work there. You did the right thing by quitting.

petco is unfortunately known for being a crappy petstore, by where i live that is! i work for petsmart and we've had people go to the petco thats like an hour away and come to us and complain about how the workers sold them fish that they said would do well in community tanks but have wound up having their guppies and other fish end up as dinner! i know at my store we will out right refuse to sell to someone who isnt going to properly house their fish, or other animals, with proper tankmates! what you did was right! you were not only looking out for the customer but the fish as well! good job and that manager is an ahole!

almost as sad as when I asked the fish guy at petco yesterday if they had any garlic, and he said after blankly staring for a few seconds "oh, you mean like for dogs?"

:Slap:

In his defense dogs do taste better if they are cooked with some garlic.
