I had a Vittatus, grew it from about 4". It was without doubt the best fish I've ever owned. Beautiful, active and a killer. It went to a guy with a 8 footer. I've deleted all my pics off the pc soz. Look below to the link, just worked out how to do it.
Depending on where i move to, I'll try to get an 8-10 footer. Will need the services of a structural engineer to calculate the mass, possibly 2-3 tonnes!!! Costing things out t the moment. It's gonna be expensive.
Will want to keep the two rhoms I have also, 8 1/2" Diamond, 10 1/2" Diamond (in my gallery).I plan two corner tanks for them, Aquaone Windsor 88's. Will probably have to sell the other p's I have, Maculatus, Sanchezi, Maueli and Irritan. Looking to complete the project in two years.
I thought that working in a 30-36" deep tank would be a *****, especially as i want a sand base.

It would usually wait until they were within a striking distance. Then dart out and grab them, turning it so that the prey fish went down head first. Very quick, very gracefull. Always successfull. damn, i miss that fish!!!
My 125 gal (24" high I think) with the canopy opened is just deep enough for a 6'3" fella to touch the sand bed (5" from the bottom) on my tippy toes. If the stand was a whee bit shorter I think it'll be just perfect (no tippy toe action).
I recall a LFS with a 500 gallon tall display tank and a friend of mine who worked there had to use a mop to clean off the algae off the bottom. Tanks like that wasn't well thought up in my oppinon. I mean you can't get Angels or discus (at the size of a garbage can lid) to utilize the space. If anything it would've been better on it's back like a touch pool.
