I feel like I’ve been gone for so long. Things look a bit different around here.

What was supposed to be one week off turned into two. I decided to jump on the opportunity to go with my husband on a run(husband is a trucker) down to Florida. The weather at home has been cold and we got snow a few times so leaving for 80+ and sunshine was a wonderful escape.
We hit all the major cities making deliveries. Started up in mobile Alabama across to Jacksonville Florida, west palm beach, Miami.... It was around Miami that we got held up for a bit.
Getting onto 595 we saw a car on fire. It didn’t look like any emergency crews showed up yet.

Little did we know that just up ahead a tanker would get in an accident requiring them to shut down 595. The worst part was our truck has no working ac right now. That’s not a problem normally, but it was so hot in the truck that day with the sun beating down on us. I had my dog on my lap so he could have his head out the window. All of a sudden his body went completely limp in my arms! He couldn’t open his eyes and focus, hold his head up, nothing! I was in shock but knew right away he was having a heat stroke. I squirted water in his mouth and got his head and body wet. He revived enough to start drinking water on his own and improved slightly. It wasn’t till the next day that he was fully recovered. It was the most terrifying part of our trip. I was sure he would die in my arms while we sat at a stand still in traffic.
I saw the news chopper fly overhead so I got online and took this screen shot.

If we would have had ac this would have just been a slight inconvenience, but instead it was nail biting scary just praying we could make it out before our pup died.

After our long stressful day we stayed the night at miccosukee service plaza. Sadly didn’t get to see their gator, but I took a few pictures while we were there.
It was already getting dark when we arrived.

I saw fish in the water and couldn’t tell what they are. Cichlids maybe? The looked like they had stripes. I took multiple pictures(all look like the top picture) and by chance one caught eye shine from the fish! I thought that was pretty cool.

After that we went through Naples up to Venice, Tampa, and stayed nearly a week in wildwood.

Wow you had quite of an adventure. Happy to hear your dog fully recovered.

We rented a room and car so we could make the most of our time in Florida.
We visited some shops, citrus stores, got some cowboy boots. You really can’t beat buy one get two free!
One day we took off to see pine island beach.

I wanted to catch one, but those suckers have great range with those claws. Lol
This Atlantic needlefish was so cool. I saw a few of them, but only got a picture of this one. Can you find it? ;)

Anyone know what these guys are? They blend in so well with the sand. They were near mangrove trees in salt water.

I love all the brown anoles. They are so fast! But I did catch a couple:)

Had to look a few times but managed to find the Needlefish lol. Sounds like you really had a good time. I would have been trying to catch the Brown Anoles myself lol.

It was great, minus traffic. I don’t think I can complain about the traffic in Minnesota anymore. It’s nothing like down there. Haha.

When I see animals I turn into a little kid and want to chase them down. lol Those anoles we’re making me crazy with how fast they are. The first one I caught because it was busy watching my dog? the second one was bigger and bit me 3 times before I was able to get a hold of it in a way it couldn’t bite anymore.
I’m sure my husband is just glad I didn’t see any snakes?

Pictures of my pup.
He is a stubborn butt that insisted on riding in my lap most of the trip.

And at night he would hog one of only two ac vents in the sleeper. Lol

I think he had fun getting to travel with us even with the mishap. He makes a great trucking dog.

if you go through naples again and have the time you should check out thebiggerthebetters monster fish room it is AMAZING!

I bet it is!
I would have loved to have done more while we were there.
I didn’t go to any fish stores, but I figured I was better off not being tempted. Laws are pretty strict on what commercial vehicles can transport without it being something that’s “shipped”.

I tell you what though, after enjoying the weather down there we’ve been talking a lot more about moving.
There is a place “The Villages” that we rented our car from the enterprise service and it was crazy! A 55+ community mostly with a small percentage between 19-54. No kids allowed unless you live in a small community on the outside of the main one.
The place was beautiful! I told my husband we will move there when our kids leave the house?
Golf courses, live bands, so clean, safe, everyone drives golf carts. Just an awesome town. Kinda cultish, I guess considering it’s all owned and run by one family. You need to be approved to live there and whatnot, but it looks awesome from an outsider perspective. Haha.
