I live in West Palm! Good area.

It definitely is.
I spent a couple hours on Zillow last night looking at homes in tx and fl.
I was telling my husband how it is a bit of a shock how different homes are here compared to down south.
Besides the obvious, no basements. Most don’t have garages, lots are single or double wide prefabricated homes. Having a crawl space under the house I’m not sure how to feel about that.
It would be a big life change in many ways.

Though, I did find a house on 5 acres, pool, greenhouse, animal shed type building, ect. That didn’t seem too bad. A huge plus is it’s less then an hour from pine island beach ?
It’s not exactly what I’d want, but the most land I’ve found so far with a house reasonably big enough for our family.

I’m really just daydreaming right now. But I told my husband I am serious about moving. I just don’t know “when”.

Nice houses with significant tracts of land down here are either exceptionally rare and/or extremely expensive. Most nice, new houses are built in subdivisions with HOA and CDD fees that come with costs that can significantly add to the mortgage and rules that effectively turn you into a tenant instead of a true owner.

The housing market down here is rough if you want to actually have land to work as you see fit.

If you do decide to do more than daydreaming, I wish you good luck! It's an amazing area to live, and while I frequently get some snow living up in the little nub of Florida that's inside of Georgia, most of the state isn't burdened with the White Horror, which is one of the best parts of being here! ?

Yeah, I really don’t want to live in an area that has a HOA or other strict rules. At least not if we move in the next 5-10yrs.
Yes, little to no snow would be the biggest highlight for me! I’m so over snow after the winter we had last year. I used to get a bit excited for the first snowfall, but that feeling is long gone now. ?

Haha, his dad is an even bigger “lap” dog.
I guess he missed me when I was gone. **please excuse the massive amount of hair he shed**?

It was very scary, but I’m glad I had already read up on how to treat heatstroke/exhaustion in dogs. It was just doing what I could with what I had on hand. I’m sure it could have been so much worse.

Ha, no worries. When I was young & much dumber than today I got a Rhodesian Ridgeback, partially because I thought (key word - thought) that short haired dogs were gentle shedders. BIG mistake, especially with that breed, and dark brown carpet in our house back then. His coat was the same color as your dogs. lol

Haha! At one point I thought short hair dogs shed less then long hair. Turns out long hair is at least easier to clean off furniture. Short hair is like little pins stuck in everything! ?
I’m not sure what it is about this time of year, but all three dogs are shedding like crazy. The poor vacuum takes the brunt of it all. Lol
