just read this on the fifa site, football trivia.

"A ceasefire was agreed in warring Nigeria when Pelé played in Lagos in 1970 and he was declared a "national treasure" by Brazil's President. "

fairplay, for a football player, that aint bad

I thought he was declared a national treasure because Italy wanted to steal him away from Brazil to play for their national team.

PS* and you guys can say what you want about Ronaldo but name me another 21 year old player that controls and takes over a game with such ease. Weight of the world on his shoulders and he's got ice cold veins. I think a lot of people forget that he's only 21.

ROONEY...but it was obvious I was going to say that

Just for the record...i'm a fanatical Man UTD supportor...so I really do like Ronaldo as well. But I have to say that he doesn't handle the pressure all that well...he is getting better though. I remember a certain game against Benfica in the Champions League...I'm sure your remember that ;) Can somebody say dummy spit?

Not stiring...just a little something I remeber.

Yeah, he didn't do well with all of that jeering. You have to remember that he played for our arch rivals so he had 50,000 people that would typically cheer for him, start jeering him. He grew up a Benfica supporter too which makes it worse. He flipped off the crowd for those that don't know. But did you see him take his pk. He had ice water running through his veins.

For Rooney and Ronaldo. It's just a matter of them becoming more mature. They're still both incredibly young.
