i'm just saying the efforts should be in the conservation of their endemic area.

I agree 100%

you guys are thinking backwards about this. if they did get a breeding program for my endangered fish. this could eliminate poaching as the breed fish could take the place of the "black market" for poached animals. think about it, why get something illegally when it can be had easily legally? but for something where they can't reproduce in the wild its a very hard thing to solve...

i thought the largest growing fish was some kind of sturgeon.like 28 feet long.{fw}

The US still leads the world in technological innovation. The only problem is that most of our innovations are for making people money.

Too bad about the paddle fish though. If they find some, I will let someone fund me in breeding it. All I need is a giant sea world sized aquarium complex... I'll fill it with other monsters and justify it by saying they are used as dither fish.

They sell American paddlefish at my LFS.

I don't think anyone is really 100% sure on what the largest freshwater fish is. Arapaima, sturgeon, Chinese paddlefish, Mekong giant catfish, Wels catfish...there are a lot of em.

what a shame! Sadly it does not surprise me, anymore.....
