Wow, I do think it is terrible that they killed that whale shark, but I also agree that it's hard to open your mouth saying how horrible they are when every country has it's flaws. I would personally love to see them stop attacking sharks, I would love to see all countries stop. I would also love to see America as well as other country show more respect for animals as well as other people. But it has to be understood that not everyone in China does these things. I personally didnt like how many of the white people from my school harrased my friend from Iran after 911, a person should not be treated that way - but many people here in America had the mindset, your from here - your a terrorist... and you can't always persume the worst out of an entire country and it's people just becuase a select few don't have the education to understand, and no I dont think I am fully educated on everything. No I dont agree with it, but no you can't go around hating everyone in China either, as they are not all to blame.

On another note, to the full vegetarian thing.. I would personally think going full vegiterain is a bad idea unless you can supplment what you are missing in your diet from meats/fish and such. I do think it would be healthier to eat less meat and more veggies and other foods, but not completely get rid of meat. I really dont know much about the subject but I did read an article (not sure if I can find it again) about these all veggie eaters and how they were unhealthy because they were lacking other things they can't get from them. Just my own thought's ... like I said I don't really know a lot about the subject and maybe someone can correct me.

Unless you are talking about VEGANism, vegetarianism is harmless. I've been a vegetarian for 7 months now, and have not looked back. I do not supplement (except the occasional energy/protein drink while training for cycling) and have no issues. It does NOT mean all you eat is vegetables and fruit. I eat pretty much all the same things i did before, and still find myself not eating enough fruit/veg. Cutting out the meat to most people means less fat...not less protein. Which you can easily get from a peanut butter sandwich (or any nut for that matter) and various soy products. There is a meatless substitute for virtually everything these days.
Be careful what articles you read on the subject...there are very few deficiencies that set in. And take a while at that...if at all. Honestly...the only hard part about it is convenience at restaurants.

To your first point, i agree. Its just hard to avoid, and thats life. Stereotypes will always be a part of life.
Asian culture is an easy target...whaling, shark fin soup, an affinity for consuming the rare and endangered (spiritual beliefs).....and so on.

Thank you for your explanation on vegetrian's, like I said I didnt really know much on it, just from what I read which in my head made sense but I am not a vegetarian so I wouldnt personally know. It's nice to get insite from people who actually are vegetarian. Its possible I was reading up on veganism - as you can tell its one area I am not educated on.

Yah it will always be hard for people to avoid, stereotypes seem to stick everywhere.
