Red wigglers are awesome. I've been culturing them in a couple of nested rubbermaids in my garage for a few years.... and haven't bought frozen or live food since.

Best thing to do is to get a pound or so to start (either locally - check Craigslist - or from one of the online worm dealers. They reproduce rapidly in the summer (with warmth) and slower in cooler weather. Starting with a pound or so ensures that you'll always have a bunch.
