Worms for Food?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Worms are some of the best fish food you could ever get. Nightcrawlers are really great. Some of the best ones are even from Wal-Mart 24 crawlers for like $2.99

I'm curious as to how you gut load a worm too... also I keep mine in the dirt they come in, but I heard it's better to keep them with like compost (rotten fruit, veg etc) but couldnt that be like growing mold and bacteria too?
Oh yeah where I live you can't get worms in the winter, otherwise I'd always keep them on hand.

Why not keep them in a bag of garden compost or something inside? I'm thinking of keeping them in a plastic tub and just picking out worms as and when i need them. Not sure about mold and stuff. My pacu only eat fruit once its gone fuzzy, and its never done them harm. Not sure about the poly though, she is picky.

my polys love em...

no ones answered the question about how to gut load them? i don't even know what to feed mine. Help!?!

add a piece of lettuce to the culture even a piece of bread will work-Anne

You can gutload your worms by adding veggies, fruits, and other goodies to your compost bin. In terms of mold I think that a proper bin should have some drainage to decrease the water and wetness that supports fungus and mold.
