First of all hi to all I am a newbie to this site I have been fish keeper for only 2-3 years now and six months ago I saw two beautiful baby Oscars and couldn't resist they first went to my 50g tank for 2-3 weeks then moved to my 75g they are now 5 & 6 inch long and sexy as they come but I Han heard that Oscars love earth worms can I get these from a tackle shop / bait shop is there anywhere else not want to dig them up worried about parasites is there any other bugs/insect's that they can eat. Thanks and sorry about the long question.

Hello;section that you've posted in is pretty much for questions referring to the use of this site rather than aquarium advice....now with that out of the way, you can get various worms or nightcrawlers from a bait shop or you can dig them up your self(the price will be better lol)provided the grounds you dig them from were not treated with any kinds of gardening chemicals.

Oscars love snacks, night crawlers to super meal worms, but keep in mind these are treats, there main diet should be a quality pellet, these days they get jumbo frieze dried krill soaked in boyds vita -chem for a protein treat.

I did mean as a treat sorry I should have said the get cichlid gold pellets as their staple diet with a treat cube made of salmon, prawns garden peas and a cheaper pellets (that they don't like to eat so I mix with this) set with gelatine. As well as the odd algae wafer the steal of the plec bits of apple orange grapes once a week or so also a stolen spinach leaf ment for plec. Just worried about parasites in garden caught worms.

Sorry about post in wrong section. As I said I am concerned about parasites. Don't want to harm my wee buddies'

They are just fine from the bait store. I feed them to my fish as a treat any time I go fishing and have some left over
