Worms in most aquariums. What????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
None in mine. Not sure where they would come from??? I never put anything into my tank except pellets.

Where does ich come from? There is a lot of organisms everywhere, and some are already in the water. All they do is wait for the right conditions to start inhabiting an area.

They are not planaria. Why does everyone assume when someone says they have a worm that it is planaria. From his description they are NOT planaria. They are a nematode/detritus worm and completely harmless.

Please explain how his description prompted you to conclude that what he is seeing is a nematode or a detritus worm vs planaria. I saw no description that would lead to a phylum classification either way.

The fact he said they are inside the subsrate, the fact he said they are free floating at times. Planaria don't free float.

i might have a few left over blackworms but snails and sneaky baby whatever worms dont last to long in my tank my loaches are pretty good they literally pick up rocks and move them to get to whatever food they can under the substrate

i have detritus as planaria grow larger and are more distanct. but i was referring to all worms in the thread

There are so many species of planaria in aquariums that move and function in different ways that you can't possibly know that.
