I see a lot of people feed various worms to their fish. I never had, ha besides blood worms, and am wondering what you use, why and where you get it. Thanks

I used to feed bloodworms...

i use mealworms. just one or two everyday as an afternoon snack for them. im in the process of trying to breed my own stock of worms.

I used red wigglers which I use to compost household fruit and veggies. So it gives me an unlimited supply of worms. I picked up a pound at the local farmers market in Union Square Manhattan. Since there always breeding I have worms of all sizes for my fish and turtles.

Bloodworms are not true worms but midge larva of nonbiting mosquitoes. The name makes such a confusion.

Bloodworms are very rich in protein content so use moderately. I've seen plenty of cases where people keep stuffing their fish with bloodworms to the point they suffer bloat and are beyond saving. I'd feed them no more than 2-3 times a week to control digestion.

Frozen bloodworms must be thawed first before you feed them to your fish. The sudden change in temperature can have adverse effect to the health of the fish.
