I jus did a waterchange on my 40gl with a pair of senegal bichirs and when i pulled the filter out there was little reddish brown worms about 1/2 to 3/4 inch in size what are these???

so from what i could figure out by doin a few searches was that they are live bloodworms or a similar larvae. not really for sure how i came about gettin them in my tank tho
No worries. There blood worms. Have u noticed any tiny flies around your tank. It's happened to me a few times. When I tried to google for some info. The closest answer I came across was a MIDGE FLY. If u look closely, you might see some dark egg mass around the lip area of ur tank (especially around ur filter). You might even be able to see the pupa and larva wriggling on the bottom. If u go to google image under "MIDGE FLY LIFE CYCLE". It'll give u a better idea of what I'm talkin about.
