Worms

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It would be really awesome to have some sort of larger worm. Then larger fish/turtles could eat it while it cleans the substrate. I am definitely going to look into this further. I feel the closer an aquarium gets to a self sustaining ecosystem the better. Both for coolness factors and the health of the animals. Also, its great to not have to rely on outside people to provide supplies for your pets, in a dream situation. We are already relying on bacteria with the fish to help maintain the system, and many are using plants as well. Why not add in many levels of life forms? Worms, waterbugs, etc.

I am currently working on such a system. and from what I gather red wrigglers are able to live under water. I am currently working on a setup where biodiversity is key. So far it has been very low maintenance. currently Im adding a sump so that I can increase the bioload. And I plan to incorporate a worm box after I get the sump established. Me and you really need to stay in contact. I am happy to come across someone else who shares my same interest. I have a lot of iddeas that need bouncing around.

Yeah! I actually really dont like touching worms at all (and use gloves) due to an intense disgust I have had of them since I was a child, however I feed them to my turtle and want to go forward with this project...for science!

We should definitely collaborate, details details details.
