A little melafix, and I mean a 1/5 dosage, will help him out. Just put a little bit in once a week, just enough to keep it sterilized. He'll eventually figure it out and stop doing it. Try feeding him an extra time each day while decreasing the amount of food per feeding, this will have him less eager to eat for his feedings and help him stop rubbing.
