how long do you think a baby bichir can survive without food?
its been almost a week, and mine hasn't eaten anything, I tried everything already, still no luck,
he is in a bad shape, very skinny n currently on the size of a matchstick,
hv started to worry me..
the only good thing,.. that he is still alive..
n I can only pray n keep trying all the time.

The babies can't survive as long, especially if he's already skinny.

What all have you tried feeding him? Have you tried live foods? Ghost shrimp, worms, small fish, etc.

thanks,
I tried everything already, if still doesn't work then I'll keep trying till he eat something hopefully..

I find it hard to believe that you tried EVERYTHING.

I've gotten almost anything to eat on either krill or shrimp. I use raw shrimp, but in your case I'd also try cooked. I'd also try cut up fish fillets.

Beef heart is another thing a lot of fish will take to. Frozen silversides are another thing I've had luck with.

If you've already tried all of that, keep trying the raw shrimp, they will usually trigger on it.

Also try various fishing baits. Wax worms, grubs, etc.

thanks for the thought,
I've found the problems were not from the food I served him, but the bichir have suffered from a long traveled distance to my place during delivery, they were some red marks all over the body, but its all gone now, and I could see him yawning sometimes, yet I thought nothing is wrong with him,
but still he barely moves through out the day. I'm still giving him blood worms everyday, but still no improvement, hopefully things will chance in the coming days.
cheers

Try all of these,
micro pellets
cut up tilapia
cut up shrimp
brine shrimp
blackworms
red worms
small earth worms
small live bearers
small rosy reds
ghost shrimp
it should eat one of the above foods listed, hope it eats soon for you.

try live black worms. always got my little ones to eat those.

a pic would be nice so we know what your tryin to tell us about the bichir.
