worse day ever last night

i just got a new job and work 8-6 monday trough saturday and my wifes been feeding my fish till i get home so last night got home a lil late i take a shower and just rest i take a look at my tank right next to my bed and see my baby albino choking i start freaking out my wife trew in a big chunk of shrimp and u can kind of see it at first so i waited and it got worse his head and gills looked like it was gana pop he couldnt bread so i took him out and couldnt take the shrimp out it was to deep i was all over the place he was dieing and i couldnt save him it was tearing me up inside i keeped trying but no luck his gills were blood red with a lil blood driping out and he was suffering bad real bad i tryed so hard to save him but couldnt so i wanted to kill him so he wont suffer he looked dead no breading or movment just a lil body shake so i got him out and right before i was gana take him out of his suffering i gave it 1 more try with a needle with the tip cut of and bent a lil kinda like a hook this time i pushed the shrimp in as far as i can and boom he started breading his head looks normal and his gills do to hes in a 30 gal long with a divder and next to him is my 2inch shortbody flowerhorn he looks ok but the fact that i put needles and tweesers down his body has me thinking he wont make it maybe i ripped somthing what should i do or what type of treatment shounld i do thanks
 
not too sure if u hurt it too badly, but if any fish can survive the ordeal it would be a poly..good luck with the little guy:(
 
thank u guys the only day i get to sleep as long as i want got massed up all night i was up he was on his side at first now hes stright but still worried temps are 83 ill put some salt and hopefully he makes it thanks u guys gave me more hope
 
Will try turning off the lights, i bet your baby albino is under tons of stress right now.

Oh and you might want to feed it something else since its still a baby. Bloodworms perhaps?
 
CAN FEEL FOR YOU I CAME HOME TO MINE STUCK IN A WHOLE OF CAVE HAD TO BREK IT UP SURVIVED BUT LOST SIGHT IN AN EYE HOPE ALL GOES AS WELL FOR YOU

might want to hold off on feeding for a few days and give him a chance to heal, if the bichir has internal injuries it could make them worse
 
geez I think small tweezers were recommended in the other thread, not to jam a needle down it's throat! :irked:


You need to be careful, when taking them out of the tank and trying to extract something in their mouths.


What you should do now is pre-chop all of the food so that each piece is small enough, and teach your wife what is an appropriate amount to feed.
