It proves that keeping fish 10 yrs (or 40) doesn't equate to actually knowing what you are doing, or doing it well. ;)

When you put it that way, it also goes to everyone else on this board including yourself. Everyone will think that they know what they are doing, because it is what they know only. So they must assume it must be the correct way would it? No one is perfect, therefore no one knows exactly what they are doing and only knows by what they know. Am I right or am I wrong here to you? :D

That's some seriously screwed up reasoning.

Plenty of studies & data out there that support my comments. Fish growth & overal health in flow through systems where there is a constant supply of fresh water, will always be greater than water that is seldom changed, and resin bags & mineral blocks are used to keep parameters in check.
Bacteria & pathogens can run rampant in these types of systems, and no amount of resin or mineral blocks will remove that issue.

How many times have you stated that water quality is more important than the fishes diet, yet you feel that some resin bag actually equates to removing the old water, and adding fresh water? C'mon .....

I can understand your situation, and sympathize with you, but is this really the type of information that one should be passing on to someone such as the OP who appears to be rather new to the hobby?

When it comes to fish health, nothing beats the old Army Corps of Engineers dictum of;

"The Solution to Pollution is Dilution"

Going to school and working the same time isn't very flexible for me. I only have enough time to feed them just before bed, unless I'm on a holiday. But on a holiday, there always seem to have some kind of plan going on too...maybe I need to take a vacation from my job to do water changes? :D

lol People didn't just invent water changes for no reason.

What you're doing is comparably to locking a kitty in a cat-box.
