i purchased a 210 gal tank used. when i went to see the tank it had sand on the bottom and was 3/4 full with a titanium flowerhorn in it. seemed fine. i got it home and took all the sand out i was stunned to find a crack in te corner that was patched with some thin glass sheets sandwiched between the thick bottom pane. it looked ok with the patch so i decided to fill it with no sand to keep an eye on it..... today i went out into my garage and saw a nightmare. water all over the floor and the tank 1/2 empty. the crack has spread into the corner on the same side.... i need help!!!!!

I need your help and advise. can i repair it or is it junk or is there a company that can fix it?

I realize my mistake it was my fist big tank so if your going to simply tell me im stupid then save it because i dont care. i just need some advise on what to do anything is appreciated.

THANKS!!!!

It will be a lot of work, but you can replace the glass pane and reseal the entire tank. Did the person selling the tank tell you about the repair that was made to the tank before you bought it?

From what he said, no the person selling the tank DID NOT tell him about the repair that was made to the tank otherwise he wouldn't of even bought it...

I don't know why people cant be honest when selling things...

that sounds crazy... post pixs please and pixs of finish product be really cool... give other a chance of what you did and get some ideas .

get on google and call local glass places... then strip the whole tank replace and reseal... there are tons of threads on here how to do it properly. This situation sucks but shame on who ever for not removing the sand before moving it.. the tank should have been thoroughly inspected before being moved

Myself I would just junk the tank. I have seen "professinal" reseal jobs crack again. 210 gallons is a lot of water on the floor. Cheaper to buy a new one than risk the chance of another crack. Just My opinion though.

I would junk it too. Well, I'd actually use the glass for something. Could make a huge plywood tank with a piece of glass from the length wise panel (depending on thickness). :D
