Worst day of fishkeeping ever!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that sucks but it would be interesting to know any details to help find out what happend.

when was the last water change and how much ?
how recently were the fx5 put on and what was in them ?
what were you feeding ?
how long you had them ?

im not prying just trying to find some answers that might help other ray keepers avoid similar problems .

sorry for your losses , it sucks when you loose a prized fish , hope you get back into it though and find out what the problem was so you can prevent it happening again :)

good luck

ajsmith i have picture i can put up to prove how fat and healthy they were...look through some of my previous threads...they ate market shrimp and silversides. i fed them until there was a huge lump on their backs or until they stopped eating once a day

That's sad to see and I know how you feel. It happens. Keep your head up man.Did you lose anything else?Or just the rays?

Sorry to hear. Probably some type of spike, be it ammonia or nitrites. Not an outside contaminant otherwise the other fish would not have made it. Don't let it hold you back, it sucks but take it as a learning experience and move forward.
And just ignore the negative comments, they solve nothing and Karma is a bite in the Arse.

Thanks john and shadow...I did not loose anything else. Only my rays. I just did a 50% waterchange and right after all my fish ate like normal. I dont know what it was that took out the rays. Wish i did. I think im gonna stay away from rays for the time being tho because im going away to college soon.

Thanks for the support guys

You might want to check any filters or overflows for pieces of left over food which may have caused a spike.

You may also want to check the food you where feeding the rays it may have been spoiled or contaminated.

Just trying to help :(

Really sorry about your loss, I hope you figure out what went wrong and can come back to ray keeping soon

iv been feeding the same brand of market shrimp since i got them. Pellets which shouldnt be contaminated..The only thing new i fed them was silversides from the fish market but iv fed that before in the past 2 and it was fine. I checked the ammonia last night and it was at exactly 0. So its not that. I know your all just trying to help=]

Im not being negative, sorry if i came off as that, but seriously, you showed the thread from almost 4months ago...yea...they do look fat and healthy... now your first picture they look very skinny... and there are also bite marks on 1 of them. im just trying to help figure out what went wrong, and a picture tells a 1000 words... whats ur tank mates? just trying to help ya man, not being negative at all
