Keeping hybrids out of the conversation, just specifically line-breeding, two of the worst ideas I've seen take off are veil-tailed Oscars and plecos, and balloon-body anything. I know we've gotten used to balloon body goldfish but seeing a gourami that way is just painful.

I don't mind veil-tailed so much, but balloon bodied anything makes me queasy. It just looks so awkward, and the fish always look like they have problems swimming :(

Agreed,it's almost as if it is the result of some scientist taking out his perversions on a fish.

Ever get that dreadful feeling that somewhere they're making short balloon bodied albino veiltail oscars? I'm sure there's got to be a few out there somewhere...

When I first got into fish and learned about the things that had already been done, I seriously fantasized about breeding bettas that could float in air in moist environments. Some sort of gas bladder that could generate a lighter-than-air gas and huge fins that helped it get through the air. It's ridiculous, just a fantasy.

anyone have any pictures of these guys? i looked up the oscars but i couldn't find a good example of vieltail pleceos on google or any strange balloon bellies.. plus its always cool to see what other people keep that dosent make it too google!

I have short body carpintis.

If we inbred people enough, could we get shortbodies, veilfeet or balloon bellies?
