Worst tank accident?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had the top on my AC50 not totally sealed, and noticed I was quite a few inches low on my 30g, and my floor was nice and wet... Probably about 5g on the floor. Luckily the week before I bought a Bissel upholstery vac... Sucked the water out of the carpet real nice... and with how brown it was... I got a pretty nice cleaning for my efforts too.(Clean fishtank water.)

Same tank 2 nights ago... plugged in old heater that morning... checked temp before went to purchase some nice Strawberry Peacocks and an awesome little unknown, and I woke up to a Peacock stuck to my filter. :( Sadness... Felt the tank and it was wayy too warm... Went out and bought strip thermometers for all my tanks as I realize I need to keep a close eye on it... Was silly of me though.. Thankful it wasn't the awesome unknown though, who the breeder managed to drop on the floor on the way to my bucket. :(

Awesome thread, although wayy too many tanks have split randomly.

dropped the glass cover of my 2 aquariums. Twice. also my 75g's outflow pipe was too strong water splashed around like hell, came home to a flooded room. SMH

I didn't read the thread yet, but I don't even know where to start. I've had tanks split on me, drain all the way. I've had heaters that have basically deep fried my fish. I have fallen asleep and overflowed tanks on a few occasions lol. And I'm sure there's a couple more I forgot...

I gave my previous 125 gallon tank to a coworker in perfect condition for free. He cracked it during transfer but minor so it was repaired. Two weeks later after giving him my 18" clown knife fish, they overflowed the tank and cracked the supports and the base due to flexing in the center. Flood all over the room. The tank is still usable but they cannot load water past 16" now since we are afraid it will give way.
