Yup, been there. Sucks man, coz you can't be angry at them. I went away to visit my parents and when I came back I had lost two Clown Loaches and a beautiful Fire Eel to Ich. I expalined to my friend how to look after the fish, but you can't trust anyone but yourself when it comes to your fish. I was not impressed... Still struggling to find a decent Fire Eel, but a lot of the pet stores in South Africa don't stock them or they don't look healthy in the store. Drives me crazy!! :nilly:
 
I just finished writing a post just like this one.
 
I generally don't leave for more then a week at any given time. When I do, I just overfeed a little, do a big water change, and then leave them alone while I'm gone. The only instructions I leave are turn the light on and off everyday. I tell them specifically not to feed the fish, add water or adjust anything. I have never had any problems this way.
