wot can you keep with a dovii

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
depends on if its a male or female when selecting tankmates for dovii, remember they are extremely territorial. my female is ok they are a lot smaller but my male killed larger tankmates and was a :swear: you need somthing that can hold its own like a Red Devil,Managuense,Midas my female is in with a jd knife fish shovelnose orange pike, clarias cat and is fine as i say the males can be a bit :WHOA:

Thanks. Not sure if male or female as i havnt got one yet. But it would be in with a shovelnose a managuense and a green terror.

If its a 400Liter then you cant even keep a dovii in that.........If its a 400 Gallon then i wouldn't put anything in there that you mentioned they will be beaten and eaten eventually except maybe the shovelnose but come on man they get like 3 ft. and a 400liter is way to small for either fish solo. 400liters=105gallons

The only thing that i've ever been able to keep with my Male Dovii has been food... :D

With dentition and an attitude, I wouldn't even put my hand in there.

Could try hemibagrus wyckii/wyckioides... although the aforementioned 2 species may kill the dovii...

I wouldn't do it not unless your buying say a 3" juvi and planning on moving him. Listen to stotty n others, dovii get huge, 2-3 feet + just look at em they just look mean. I've heard minimum for an adult male only is like 200-250g. Get a jag, they are like smaller versions + can be housed in smaller tanks like 120g. even tho that sounds huge to me. theres a good article on dovii in (Tropical Fish Hobbyist) nov. 2003 if you could check it out. - salty

Please stop posting about dovii sizes without proven facts. Dovii in captivity rarely reach 20 inches. You will be extremely lucky to have one past 20 inches. Even having a male dovii in a 35,000 gallon tank will only get to 19 inches and thats keeping the dovii for 9 years. This is a serious hobbyist living in Canada.
So I say a 120gallon for dovii will house it for a very, very long time. Eventually upgrade will be needed after several years.
