Tropical fish hobbyist claims nearly 30 inches and 15 pounds, so my bad, kinda, I said 2-3 feet not 3 feet excactly. Last time i checked 36" was 3' so sorry 6"shy, and I was told by someone I'm sure more serious than yourself that 120 is to small for a male adult dovii. in fact this person is a moderator of a known site. Please read my last post a little more carefully next time, I also mentioned moving the dovii to something bigger over time, and where i found the info. thanx for your reply - salty

I had a Female got bigger ,quicker than the reat of my fsih and was a bia, all fish tend to be diff but most of the time they can be out of control better get a fish as big or be as mean if u wanna keep him for a while be careful with jags and the other's in that fam they like to crossbred and thats just more probs but u are gonna want a big tank to keep it happy think if u put a bunch of big mean dudes in a lil room there is bound to be a brawl good luck mine next dovi is only 2' and at that size is a lil monster they are worth the hassle amazing fish

keeping a full grown dovii in a 120 is way too small. Regardless of what you think or the small size of the dovii you have owned all the pro's say nothing less then a 180. I can't imagine keeping a 24" aggressive glass banging dovii in a 48"x24" set-up. It would be ok when they are small but just bad fish keeping when full grown.....

Dovii will reach about 18"- 24" in about 90% of fish tanks but they can reach 30"+ If food is too large to eat they will tear it into pieces the size of this fish is a problem but its very aggresive.so it needs space i also have kept fish for a long time and had dovii and as i said a femail is the best bet but its getting a small fish and you hope its a female well what do you do if its a very :swear: off male i have seen these things smash apart a Green Terror a cool fish but you must know what u are getting into

Mine is 16'' and I feel bad for keeping him in a 180, honestly it just doesn't look big enough anymore. I have had him for almost two years now and I bought him at 10''-11'' so growth slows quite a bit 6'' in two years is pretty slow. I have never personally seen a dovii larger then mine other then a female at a LFS in a 1500 gal tank and shes every bit of 7 years old. A friend of mine got some fry from me from a batch I sold out of in April, most of them are 4-6'' already with one exception an 8'' male so plan on getting a 180gal as soon as possible. As far as tankmates go NOTHING WILL WORK IN A TANK UNDER 300+gallons even then your'e taking risks.
