Would a Dovii and a Vieja synspilum be compatible

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
IMO.. DOVI+anything smaller= death to the other fish...you MIGHT get away with a big pleco for a while ,,,but even that would be short term

could be in a big tank, BUT... when u feed feed your dovi syn is gonna eat and eat .syns NEED veggies to stay healthy AND show bright colors if they eat high protein they get washed out greyish plus colorful but not like their potential. the syns would have to b established first ,syns should b a inch bigger no more. they will out grow wolves till 8 to 10 then? ANYTHING GOES or stays ,best chance ur introduction ,plus get some distraction fish jewels green terrors jd s,syns r smart not as skittish when raised with the predators.syns are vegetarian to degree they eat all but shouldnt all the time. vegetarian cichlids have longer intestines so u dont want to bloat them from high protein like people do beanis hatians and bleekeri. dovi is cool when raised happy with others NOTHING AT ALL LIKE WHAT U SEE WITH A PAIR OR SINGLY THEY HAVE ALOT MORE TO SHOW THEN BEING JERKS IN A CAGE community is possible , but up in them size limits is questionable goodluck,,im on youtube type alphanok2013

I wouldn't do it. Both are fast growing fish and will out grow a 120g fast. That dovii will kill that syn eventually. Why not look at other parachromis sp? Loisellie would work well w/ a syn in a 120g.

i agree with the other posters, but as a temporary solution to aggression, it may work if the other fish are at least the same size. Syns can be a bit wimpy for dovii though.

It could work long term if you have the proper size tank, and they grow up together, at minimum a 350 gal, better 500 or more. Ibelieve anything smaller for dovii is short sighted.

Syns, IME seem to be more on par with discus as far as aggression goes. Every one I've owned have been ridiculously weak. In a 120 and as juvies they should be okay for a short time though.

Just save your money. It won't work for long. Trust me on this one. You may or may not get away with it for a little while but unless the tank is really big or very overstocked, it will not work for long. And the really overstocking option won't work long either. In anything short of a 600+ gallon tank, it's just running on borrowed time.

+1, dovii will outgrow the vieja argentea and WILL kill it or anything in the tank once they pair up.
