I'm wondering if the emperor will actually hang on my tank.
it's acrylic and completely covered except for the 4 holes. 2 big ones in the middle and 2 long slits on the back..

would both intake and output fit on the slit in the back?
or doesthe clean water go out through the big holes in the middle?

You need a slot 16" wide for an emp 400, the "lip or edge of your tank can only be about an 1 1/2 thick.

i measured it, the edge is less than 1.5"
but the nearest hole, the long slit in the back is only 12".

and the big hole which is 16" is pretty far away...a few inches.

What can I do?
Can I cut the acrylic..or is that too risky for a noob?

here's some more specific stuff then

the dimension of the slits in the back are 12"x1.75"
the dimension of the bigs hole in the middle are 16.75"x7.75"

the distance between the back of the tank and the back of the slit(from the front-view) is 1"
the distance between the back of the tank and the back of the big hole(again looking from the front) is 5.25"

the picture didn't work..

*i guess the picture did work..sorryfor the double post.
i need to wait a little until they show up!

Cutting the openings bigger would not be that difficult, what size tank is this? What type cannister are you currently running? You could possibly just run a pair of emp280s(9.5") or a pair of AC70s(8.5").

I'd recomend going with a pair of E280's with supercartrages rather than cutting into the top. Acryllic tanks are built with extra support to prevent them from warping/flexing and removing part of that bracing is a bad idea. With the pair of E280's you'd still have enough room left to run the hoses for your cannister and the air lines.

This a common problem with acryllic tanks. Even some euro braced glass tanks suffer from it. Our 150 has barely enough room in each of the two slots for an E400 so I run one E400 and one E280 in order to have enough room for the other equipment.

it's a 100gallon with a fluval 404.

so the 400 would not work?
i'm trying to get alot of filtration since the tank will be packed.
would a powerhead 70 with a quikfilter help also?

100g is not that big that I would bother cutting the top for the larger filter. I'd just add the two Aqua clear70 filters or go with the 2 emp280s and add the "supercartridge" that wolf was speaking of.
