Would a tiretrack or fire eel be able to live in my aquarium?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you have sand they like it, but if not, they are perfectly happy with rock caves to hide in.

Id say that's a bare minimum for a BGK, but a fire eel or tire track should be in a 6 foot tank, preferably a 180. There are a few other species of eels that don't get very big but aren't often seen in the trade--peacock eel is gonna be your best bet.
I agree

sand or bare bottom.. I do keep a few of mine on a fine grade PFS a step up from sand to keep the sand from clouding the water ect. The key is rocks that are smooth not sharp in any way. large river stone would also work that is smooth surfaced. But make sure reguardless you offer plenty of hideing spots. this goes for any spiney eel.

You will be OK in a 55 with the knife and the fire/tire-track eel the ghost will get ate and fast . 2 fish in a 55 eel and a knife ? You better throw a 3,erd in there < Like a Clown Knife > Butt they will get big and fast do not be cruel . A 90 with the foot print of 48L 18D 26T would suit for life , If I had A 90 I would toss a couple more MONSTER-FISH In there Like "4"
Black ghost knife grow slow to medium
Are you saying that a 36-38" fish can live in a 48"x18" tank? :screwy:
