No! It's actually the obscure swamp eel - Ophisternon aenigmaticum! Not the Asian swamp eel - Monopterus Albus! It's smaller than the Asian swamp eel, and is actually native to the New world where as the Asian swamp eel is obviously native to Asia.

You got me on that one! I completely spaced their in the south american region too. I do know the south American species almost never comes in to the U.S.

obscure swamp eel still gets 30 inches..bit large for a 55. But if it wouldnt eat all my little guys, i'd have one; she's neat
