Seen this on the web, apparently caught in New York; crazy! No idea what type of catfish, anyone know?

This would give me nightmares haha

looks like a dead mutant. thought the thread was going to be about a bulls eye/sun/eclipse cat.
 
To be honest it doesn't looks like an eye to me. A would that got healed
 
that looks honestly like someone tried to kill it with either a stick or a gunshot and the sob survived.

how big is it? I'm inclined to agree with bullhead but it looks massive in that pic...

It looks like someone who had no clue how to use a billy club tried to kill it then whimped out and released it.

I was thinking they couldn't stomach the sound of bone crunching. I was looking at what looks to be massive indents behind the mouth.

ahh ya didn't notice those. You may be right. There are guys that brag on FB around me how they catch channel cats and bash them off trees because they are trash fish and I know full well they probably aren't killing them completely doing it. God help them if I'm night fishing and catch them doing it.
