ahh ya didn't notice those. You may be right. There are guys that brag on FB around me how they catch channel cats and bash them off trees because they are trash fish and I know full well they probably aren't killing them completely doing it. God help them if I'm night fishing and catch them doing it.
Cats are tough fish. I've had fish still breathing long after their insides are gone and the fillets are removed.

Did some digging and found this-http://nypost.com/2015/11/09/three-eyed-catfish-caught-at-nyc-superfund-site/
This fish might have 20/20/20 vision.

An angler fishing from the polluted waters of Brooklyn’s Gowanus Canal reeled in what appears to be a three-eyed catfish.

Witness Greg Hunter shot video of the alleged mutant– which he said the unnamed fisherman still planned to eat.

“Some lady was flipping out cause he [the fisherman] whacked it dead and she said they were trying to preserve the remaining wildlife there or something,” Hunter told WABC. “It was a crazy scene.”

Video of the creature, first posted by Gothamist, brought immediate comparisons to “Blinky,” the three-eyed cartoon fish spawned from the polluted waters near the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant in “The Simpsons.”

The 1.8-mile Gowanus Canal is designated by the feds a Superfund site–making it one of the most polluted waterways in the nation.

At least once scientist said something was fishy about the creature.

“It looks like someone stuck a piece of paper on this [fish] to make it look like a third eye,” NYU biology professor Richard Borowsky, told The Post.

A three-eyed fish isn’t unheard of in nature. Someone hauled one out of Canada’s Lake Nipissing last year, according to Bay Today.

The fish, called Third Eye Louie, was released back into the water, the paper reported.
