The green terrors are nice, but I have never really clicked with them. There is just something about the oscar face that appeals to me. Especially if they have big faces.
You could do it for a year, just keep up on water changes. It won't hit it's adult size from two inches in a year, IME. They usually grow an inch a month max up until about 8-9". Then they slow down a bit.
If you plan on upgrading when it outgrows the tank then yes go for it. oscars are very rewarding pets, more so than plants IMO.
i wouldnt put a GT or JD in anything smaller than 4' long... Might be able to pull of the jd but those things are jumpy IMO.
You could go with smaller cichlids with big personalities or use this as a temporary house until go get your 75-90. then you would still have this tank free for some plants or smaller cichlids.
