You need more filtration in the meantime, unless you plan on doing two to three W/C's per week.

right now i have the jd x texas at about 4 inches and a blue gill, and i already do 2 40% wc a week.

a 75 gallon would do it for life with proper filtration and maintenance.

That's cool man, as long as you don't mind the maintenance. I hate the weekly W/C's in all my tanks, but I know they have to be done.
