Here&There
I am in a "transitional" period with my 240 (72"x30" footprint). I currently have:
7x RedHookSDs
2x ClownLoaches
RoyalPanaque
Dat microlepis
StripedRaphCat
SpottedRaphCat

If I added a ClownKnife and an Aro (not sure what kind-probably try to get a smaller species) and removed the two RaphCats would I be grossly overstocked? I will have about 14-15x water volume/hour turnover filtration. Thanks.

Anyone?

Sadly their really isn't an Aro you could get as a silver will get too big and a Jar is a Jar....And I'm also not sure what you mean by transitional? Are you getting a larger tank or is the 240 the larger tank and a smaller tank is being used?

Just meant that I have been reaquascaping, doing major cleanings and adding/removing fish. I have had the 240 set up for a few years and it is staying for the foreseeable future. Shopping for a good deal on an fx5. I have other smaller tanks and helpful lfs if I need to move fish out of the 240, but trying to plan ahead. I will certainly be adding a clown knife, but have been wanting an aro for a while- had one manage to escape couple years ago.

If you got a silver then obviously 240 is too small, but if you can get another one than you should be fine.

Everyone seems to have a dif opinion. It certainly doesn't seem "obvious." I have heard that somepeople think that even tho the SA gets bigger, it is more flexible and has a tighter turning radius than Jardinis and some others so can go into narrower tanks. Either way, I don't want the fish to suffer for lack of space.

Any arowana questions can get better answered in the actual aro topic part of MFK. This way maybe they won't think it's so "obvious". :)

A clown knife should be fine. A silver aro would live a couple happy years in there.

At your turnover rate , with good filteration you would be fine with either addition..My credo is if you can see water , then your not overstocked...
