Currently I have a motoro stingray and 2 frontosas in my tank. The stingray stays on the bottom mostly, the frontosas are pretty relaxed and stay in the middle so I was wondering if I added a long nose gar to the mix would I have problems. Obviously I will try to get one about the same size.

Not to derail, but I would not put frontosas with rays. South American rays tend to thrive much better in pristine clear waters with low total dissolved solids where African frontosas found in lake Tanganyika tend to thrive in hard akaline waters. I know most fish will adjust but these two species tend to be on the opposite sides of the spectrum. My 2 cents.

Alright I'll watch them to see how they are doing. I read on other forums success of these two together. I can always put them back in my cichlid tank where they did great. I know a ton of people have had great luck with gars and rays so I will most likely start looking for one to go with my ray and just monitor the tank to determine if I need to remove the 2 fronts

in a large enough environment they will reach the five mark but yeah in aquariums where they are limited yes they will not grow to full potential but really shouldn't be kept in a tank less than 8'X3'

Just looked into that. Not sure about it though, seems to lose some of that look, maybe I'm just crazy. Might actually just keep it simple and easy and go with a few silver dollars, will most likely have to just grow them out unless I can find someone on here who has them larger or already fully grown
