Well I sold my 6 rbp's so I could buy a fahaka puffer. They were shy yet piranhas like dimly lit tanks. I have had my puffer for about a month and I must say it is one unique fish very intelligent and a one fish one tank species. I say your best bet would be to spend a hour or two on YouTube searching the various different species you are pondering. If you want a fish that's happy to see you come into the room and has it's own mind pretty much any puffer is the way to go.

Wow a lot of Puffer fans Lol. Thing is I havemy CA/SA cichlids that give me that dog like persona! I love them for that. But with Piranha something about there mystique and prehistoric appeal is what caught my attention.

Personalities in piranhas are hit and miss. I have a big Rhom that took a year to come around but that's to be expected from a fish that grew up in the wild. I have a Brandtii that comes to me like a puppy dog and I can't imagine how I'd feel if anything happened to it. I have a little Mac that's starting to come around too, looking forward to seeing how it's behavior develops. I'm looking for a Manueli now.

My gf always tells me that my entire shoal is always staring at me and they definitely react differently to me as to other people which I didn't think would happen but my piranha will put on a show 50% of the time for people sometimes they got a peice of tilapia and all of them get spooked then forge it they are all scared in the corner and won't eat and sometimes they devour everything and look for more they are quite the pussys but when they frenzy it's a sight to be seen

Notice your from T.O. Where did you get your Piranhas? Does Dragons on dundas usually get some nice P's?

Yeah there are 3 places right beside each other aquatic Kingdom, discount dragon and big Al's. Discount dragon has a lot of cool fish you don't usually see at big Al's and aquatic but they aren't usually kept in the best conditions. Last time I went there they had an Oscar the size of my hand and forearm it was huge at least 15-16 inches

I have a different opinion for you in the piranha department. Over the years I have tried sanchezi, red belly, compressus, manueli, geryi and 3 different types of rhombeus in hopes of finding an entertaining fish. Whether it be aggessive, active, smart or all of the mentioned. Well I was let down everytime and the fish were shy, very inactive and definitely not aggessive. Even kept a 10" diamond rhom for at least 4 years plus and I still sold it in the end for pennies. If I were you I would venture into the puffer department. A very entertaining fish. FYI I owned dats too and they are boring and aggessive.

Aggressive towards humans, or aggressive towards fish?..there's a difference.

Owning a piranha is much more than finger chasing and attacking the glass..it's more of an appreciation for the misconstrued media hype these fish have adopted.

Highly aggressive towards other fish, but maintain a fight or flight method with humans.

I agree. If I want a finger chase as number one priority then I go buy a trimac. I think Piranhas are very interesting and just the fact to provide for such a fish is pretty cool in its self. This hobby is very vast and to keep ones mind closed to only one type of fish would be Crazy!!!!
