I like the hobs for mechanical filtration, a lot easier to clean than another canister

HOB aren't worth it on larger tanks with bigger fish. I have two fx5s on my 180. Maintenance is easy, 30 mins to clean both every 2-3 months.

I'd go with a sump tho, DIY is cheap. Sell the fx6 and use that money plus the money you were gonna use on another canister and make a sump

On my 125 I run an Fx-6 and two Aquaclear 110s. On my 220 I run an Fx-5, ehiem 2262 and 3 Aquaclear 110. When you run canisters and Aquaclear you get great water movement on the Tank. I always run both types filtration for that reason.

Seems like a lot of pipes hanging into the tank, but I agree it probably turns it over well.

I run a single fx6 on my 125g. Waste is picked up with weekly water changes to keep my water parameters in good condition. Never had water problems and I clean the canister once every 4-5 months.
