Even fishing has its laws. What specimens you can keep, how large they have to be in order to keep, and how many you can catch in one day. The department of wildlife regulates these rules, and a fishing liscense is normally required.

Also, its taken seriously around here, and probably is elsewhere. Texas Department of Wildlife can make you real sorry real fast for keeping a fish you shouldnt have, haha.

Yea, you guys get a little anal about that. No pacu allowed in the state if I am not mistaken.

No Pirhannas, freshwater rays, etc.

RBPs can be kept.

The problem stems from some areas of Texas not getting cold enough to kill off a non native tropical fish if it where to be released into a lake. So I imagine its easier to just ban them as a whole rather then regulate what can be kept according to region.
