Probably the Poly section
I was at the lfs this morning and looking at my future 125 inhabitants, a pair of angelfish
A dwarf cichlid or two
And I am going to special order around 250 neon or cardinal tetras
50-100 Serpeas
10 or so silver hatchet fish
20-30 cory catfish
I was wondering if the neons and Serpeas would be ok with the numbers of them, the guy said he has a friend with a 210 that has 350 cardinal tetras and 2 pairs of angelfish and some cory cats. So he thinks I'll be fine. I was just wanting to double check. The dwarf cichlids are only a maybe, I don't like the $60 price tag of the cockatoos that I like... So mainly I want to know about the tetras and angels. Thnx

I think the stock could work out, but are you really going to drop 500+ dollars on all those neon/cardinals or do you know a breeder or something?

& with all those fish, your going to need some good filtration I'd say, even if they're small lol.

Sounds like your going to feed your angels some expensive feeders. Neon tetras are on menu for angelfish in the wild so there would always be potential for it in your tank, but even if they didn't eat them you'd be very overstocked with that many fish.

I'd try fewer numbers and see how it goes, but my angel ate both cardinals and X-ray tetras when housed together.

i'd not get seprae's they are very bad for nipping and the angels would be shredded. A good alternative would be bleeding heart or black widow tetras. I also think 100s of tetras plus cichlids is a tad much for a 125. For tetras i'd get about 60-75 of 2 species with more of the smaller species. for a 125 plus cichlids. You could get a number of rams or agassiz, which are cheaper. Eartheater's could work nicely assuming the cories are pretty big but you'd have to sacrifice tetras.

very good point. I missed the serpeas in the list. I tried serpeas with my angel and found them to completely stress out my angel. Very nippy fish and IMO a pretty lousy fish altogether. When they are not nipping everything in sight they are constantly nipping each other.

Ok so no angels. I'm am getting them at dealer price. So about 50 cents to $1 a piece. I know it seems like a lot of fish. But I found a website explaining how to tell if your tank is overstocked using surface area and fish size and body style to sort of look at oxygen use and availability for the fish. I will try to post a link. Any thoughts on the dwarf cichlids?

The math is basically length x width divided by 12 or 108 total inches for your tank. I just tried a few on line calculators as well and came up with the same thing. Your talking about quadrupling that figure assuming all fish are 1".

thats a lot of fish in my opinion.....

Like I said the numbers are approximate. It will really depend on how many I can order at once. So right now im thinking around 150-200 neons
50 or so phantoms( instead of serpeas)
And then some dwarfs. I like the idea of agassizi they look cool.
The tank will be planted with some rock caves and branches/roots. It will look cool when it's done. I'll be posting pix after I get everything all figured out.
